Title: electoral registers
Post by: geenz on Thursday 24 August 23 09:15 BST (UK)
I have a family member who lived in Ross-on-Wye, Hereford in the 1930s.
I would like to locate this person on electoral registers but am not very sure of which electoral register area that I should be searching - I have located another family member in London Electoral Register for example.
What is the best electoral register to search on for Hereford in the 1930s?
I am aware there have been constituency and boundary changes.
I would like to search the correct electoral register for the 1930s period.
Hope this is not too confusing and that I have been clear about what I am looking for.
Thanks

If you use the index on the left of this page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_parliamentary_constituencies_in_Herefordshire_and_Worcestershire#Constituencies) and click on Maps 1918 -1945, you will see the boundaries of the constituency in 1929 (it's coloured yellow because the Liberal Party won the seat that year), 1931 and 1935. The constituency was known as Hereford (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hereford_(UK_Parliament_constituency)) at that time.
