Dear All,
I'd like someone to have a look to see if they can find a marriage or death record for my ancestor's sister, Mary Hannah Hooper. Mary Hannah was born in 1837 in Wolverhampton, to William (1814-1885) and Sarah Ann Taylor (1817-1888). She was sister to Thomas (1835-died young), Eliza (1840-1872), Sarah Ann (1842-1921), Martha (1850-1883), William Henry (1851-1929) and Nora Eliza (1859-1943). She can be found in '41 in Wolverhampton and in '51 in Dudley, but then the trail runs dry.
Thanks,
Francis

Have you considered the Hannah HOOPER who married John CUTLER 16 Oct 1855 at St Peter, Wolverhampton. (father - William ) - Wolverhampton dec qtr 1855 (6b/693)
-
There is a Mary Hannah CUTLER died Jun qtr 1864 aged 27 registered at Dudley (6c/97) - a possibility. :-\
Modified to add:
There are a few CUTLER children born at Dudley with mmn HOOPER from 1855 - 1864, but I can't see any after that.
This could possibly be them in 1861 at Dudley:
John CUTLER 26 Dudley
Mary H 22
Thomas 5
RG9/2056/95 pg 9
though I can't see a birth for "Thomas", however there is a "James" registered Jun qtr 1856 at Dudley mmn HOOPER

I was going down same route. Wonder if this Mary Hannah Cutler died in childbirth having had possible twins.

This sounds very interesting. What are the names of the other children born after Thomas? Do we know where they are after Mary has died?
-
There are two male Cutler deaths in Jun 1864 on FreeBMD- I wonder if those relate to the two births.
Can't see those entries on GRO index.
-
There's a Henry born Mar 1860 - died Mar 1860 but without certificates not sure who the parents were. Mothers maiden name is Hooper however.

Possible 1871
John Cutler 35 head
Sebrah 29 wife
James 14 son
plus younger children
Marriage Dec 1864 John Cutler & Sebrah Cutler Hughes
In 1881 James is still with them age 25 born Dudley
Marriage for James in 1885 - more if you think correct person

Wow, thanks so much. James can be traced easily in Yorkshire. They had another daughter, Betsy, in 1861 before Mary Hannah died. She's the witness to James Cutler's marriage.
-
I believe that Betsy born c1861 who appears in 1871 census aged 10 born Oldbury with John & Sabrah (born 1842 as Sabrin Cutler) is Sabrahs daughter prior to marriage to John.

This sounds very interesting. What are the names of the other children born after Thomas? Do we know where they are after Mary has died?
Don't think anyone has actually listed them yet (all mmn HOOPER):
1856 Jun qtr James CUTLER (Dudley 6c/111)
1860 Mar qtr Henry CUTLER (Dudley 6c/125)
1861 Dec qtr (male) CUTLER (Dudley 6c/144)
1864 Jun qtr (male) CUTLER (Dudley 6c/152)
1864 Jun qtr (male) CUTLER (Dudley 6c/152)
As has been previously noted, there is this possible death:
1860 Mar qtr Henry CUTLER (Dudley 6c/64)
And the 2 un-named male deaths which appear on FreeBMD but not on the GRO Index. Also an un-named male CUTLER death in Dec qtr 1861 (Dudley 6c/74). I have reported the discrepancy to the GRO, hopefully it will be sorted out eventually. When I have reported issues in the past, they have been resolved ... but take a very very long time. :)
The GRO Index is free to search (you have to register first) :D
