Hi everyone,
I'm researching John Martin and Patrick Martin, brothers likely born in Portadown between 1910 and 1920. Both brothers later moved to England. Patrick died in Coventry in 1970, and John died in Bolton around 1992. They had two sisters, Vera (or Veronica) and Eileen. The Martin family may have lived in David Street in Portadown. I'm trying to establish that John was actually born in Northern Ireland.
Thank you.

No sign of John Martin - maybe born after 1921.
Via GRONI https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/ search 1921-1923, no Martin/Farrell birth.

Wow! Thank you so much for the information about the Martins in David Street. This is a huge help. I need to digest the information and will then get back to this post. As a result of your reply, I have now been tasked with delving further into the past, for John Martin (the father) and Kathleen (Kate) Foyle / Farrell... :)

Bachelor John Martin of 52 Thomas Street (same address where Patrick Martin was born on 2 December 1909 as per reply #1 above) married spinster Katherine Farrell of Bridge Street, in Portadown RC Church on 3 February 1909, the two fathers were recorded as Robert Martin and Peter Farrell, both farmers, the witnesses were Thomas McAneny and Sara Martin. The 'irishgenealogy.ie' website can't be searched at present because of a fault which is being looked into, once it's up and running normally again, you can view this marriage yourself.
Added: This looks like a possibility for John Martin in the 1901 census ...

... the children in this census return were born to Robert Martin and Anne Raverty, once the 'irishgenealogy.ie' website is back to normal you should be able to view a birth for John on 25 April 1873, the address then was Balteagh:

On 2 July 1872, 22 yr old bachelor Robert Martin, a weaver living in Tamnafiglassan (which borders Balteagh) married 24 year old spinster Anne 'Rafferty', a weaver living in the nearby townland of Lylo, in Derrymacash RC Church, the two fathers were recorded as Thomas Martin and Hugh Rafferty, both weavers, the witnesses were William Martin and Ellen Mulholland. Again, you will be able to view this on the 'irishgenealogy.ie' website.
