Is Arthur HALL 29 July 1884 Dudley Staffordshire The same man who joined Worcester regiment aged 18

The same who served in Canadian services
Could he be brother of Benjamin HALL

One of the brothers could be father of Camille Lecat ...I need to find a french connection
O
I'm trying to find out which other brothers served in France
James . William Joseph Arthur
I have records for Benjamin.+ There is a Canada connection
-
On Canada papers Arthur served in France
Regiment number 602288
He went from 6th infantry
To 34 th as private
It's good that these records are available but it's a lot to plough through with original handwriting
Arthur looks to be the most likely candidate
In Nov 1916 he was discharged to a hospital
For faulty vision
Would this have been in France + opportunity to meet a french girl ?
I have some more pages to look at
And would like to eliminate the other brothers
-
According to his attestation Arthur was already married.
Arthur spent most of his war in the 1st. Divl. school & 1st. Divl. Employment Corps
probably due to his defective vision.
He was discharged early 1919.
It seems to be an (as yet) unnamed brother b. 1885 & Camille was alleged born in France.
There were no other boys born to the parents after Arthur.

His UK no. indicates an attestation of 1903 so would have been in the Army at
time of marriage & birth of daughter.
To know if they are one in the same a marr. or birth cert. will be required.
The info re. the Hall/Lecat connection has come from a French researcher
possibly through DNA but the poster will need to contact the tree owner
for any qualifying data.

Great work all
Yes I know that most of the brothers were married
Maybe her HALL man lied to her
Yes it's thru DNA matches
There are 10 matches thru different children of Susannah HALL on thru lines 2 via James
+ Benjamin s grandson is a match ..tho not high enough amounts to be half cousins
I have seen his attestation papers .a Clip is shown in the topic about child allowance
Benjamin had 3 children with his wife before war and another early 1918

I ve sent the french grandson a link to this topic
What were the other wartime expression about french girls ??
My grandad used to say
" a. miss is as good as a mile "
Incidentally my grandad Jones was also 1. Of 6 boys and 1 girl .
He and his younger brother lied about their age to enlist in WW1
1 brother couldnt enlist because he was deaf
The others all returned safely ...my grandfather developed a phobia of mice because of the rats .if he had PTSD he hid it well
Their mother survived a bomb dropping on their Liverpool home
They used to say it had hit her but she was invincible!
( mlle... mademoiselle)

As men moved around it would be quite difficult to strike up a relationship.
Looking at Arthur again he was first in the Divl. school which would have been
situated in one place from there he was posted to 1st. Divl. Employment Corps
so it may be he was based in one area.
As yet I've not been able to locate either unit.

Thanks so much
+ For modifying
Your post
+ I've removed certain sentences too
Very busy today
Have had more mails from the grandson + now his wife is going to correspond because she understands the tree better but might not understand the English as much
.I'm not as bilingual as I used to be...+ Have problems with technical french but dont understand words like "browser .upload ." In English either
We are copying in one of his 2nd cousins who does not match me because she's connected by marriage.but we both connect to a descendant of that marriage who is also a 2nd cousin
Hoping to CC her into the mails and maybe do a group zoom

Can you find out Camille's DOB?
It will give us lead into where he was at the time.
His record gives this:
16/11/16 posted to 1/Divl. School.
14/7/17 posted to 1/Divl. Emp. Coy.
30/9/17 Attached to 1/Div. H.Q.
(the Emp. Coy. provided Batmen & staff drivers amongst other jobs)
27/10/17 Granted 2 weeks leave.
25/8/18 do.
On the basis of probability he was at 1/Div. H.Q. when they met. (assuming it's him)
I can then look at their diary & find out where he was.
There seems to be info that Benjamin & Joseph also served in some capacity can you give more
details as they are common names, service no. or link to records.

I have a photo of a Gardner wedding that may include some of these brothers
Let me see if I can find the way to add it
Yes I have camilles date of birth somewhere
Will confirm with her son later

I'm getting tantalisingly close to putting Estelle & Arthur in the same area.
I need to find where the Chateau D'Acq. is situated.
It's about 32Km. from Lieres.
The timeline of events is as follows:
First half of 1917 Arthur at 1/Divl. school.
June 6 1917 1/Div. relocates to the Chateau D'acq.
Beginning of June 1917 the 1/Div Emp. Coy. arrives in France
from the UK & goes straight to the HQ.
July 1917 Arthur is posted to the Emp. Coy.
(Their main activity was providing concert parties & travelled around the area
as such.)
End of Sept. 1917 Arthur is attached to the H.Q. & remains there until the end of the war.
It's compelling to think that Estelle was in service there & stayed on after it was
commandeered by the Canadians but we'll never know.
As for Benjamin after returning from Gallipoli he was transferred to the Labour Corps
(941 Area Employment Coy.).
No information as to where he served.

Apologies I didn't get back with Camille s birthdate
It was 11 march 1918
Lieres pas de Calais France
I believe the DNA + information received here and from Canada confirmed that Arthur was the correct birth father
