Title: Kent Wills - Rootsweb
Post by: Gigi on Tuesday 20 February 24 11:10 GMT (UK)
Hi All,

Does anyone know what will happen to the excellent wills site of Kent owned by Maureen Rawson? I tried to send a message but I don't get the email verification to confirm, so I cannot contact her.

Regards

Gigi

I can’t answer your specific question, but  1800 transcribed wills are on the Kent Family History Society web site available for Society members.

Hi, Gigi,

My take on the Rootsweb notice implies that Maureen Rawson's site will remain as static content for as long as Rootsweb exists.  It's just that Maureen won't have the ability to add to or update that site.

There's no notice posted on her site indicating that she intends to migrate to a new web host.  So, I guess it's a 'wait and see' approach.

Yes there is no info whether the site will move elsewhere. This is surprising as loads of wills are added each month. Approx 80 wills added in Feb 2024!!

I was contacted this weekend by someone who contributes a lot to this site. They said that data can no longer be added. Therefore the site will now remain static and will not be migrated elsewhere.

This is sad news but at least it isn't disappearing altogether.  The website is full of interesting gems.

Thank you for the update, Gigi.

This is what I had figured was going to happen.  I am the County Administrator for the Kent OPC project so I will now put forward a concerted effort to pick up with the Wills where Maureen left off.  We already have 63 Wills online and are always open to receive contributions.
