My Gt grand-uncle John Rowe and his wife Amelia or his wife Inez. The single is Amelia. Can you possibly date the two photos?
Is it the same woman in both pics.
Thanks for your help.
-
Very briefly as I have to go off for a while -
I think they are different as the one has a 'widow's peak' and the other doesn't.
Also, they look Edwardian.* see beloe re first image.
What dates were the marriages?

I think the first photo is mid-1890s. I think the sleeves are of that era.
-
Ok thanks,
Amelia married in 1880. Inez in 1898
-
Different ladies, top one is fairer with light eyes and looks like a famous actress, the bottom one is dark hair and eyes.
-
The question too is John Rowe was 27 at his first marriage and 47 at his second marriage. I cannot guess his age in the photo.

Thank you both, I thought it might be the second wife Inez in the first photo because of the fair hair and light eyes, however, when a widow's peak is parted, it resembles the hair in the first photo. (I have the same hairline). Hoping that with your opinions it is the second wife's photo to add to the tree. Kate

Amelia and John divorced in 1892 in the US. Perhaps the fashion was a little later than Eastern Europe. That

He doesn’t look 47 to me so I would go for 27.
-
Thanks, however, in that case he would be sitting with his first wife Amelia in the first pic.
-
He looks much older than 27 - nearer to 30s/early 40s. Maybe he was one of those men who looks younger.

Sleeves of lady are mid- late 1890s.

Do you have the backs that you could put up? The second pic could be earlier - it depends if its a blouse or a dress!
Ive asked Carol for her estimates.
Add - see the lady in the middle row, left.

Clearly different women.
Available records give John’s birth year 1853-1855, so 25-27 at his first marriage to Susan Amelia Scammons (who would have been just 17), and 43-45 at his second marriage to Inez Fay who would have been about 43.
I think this supports Gadget’s dating, i.e., it’s Inez with John in the first picture.
