Hello
I found an engagement announcement in The Scotsman in January 1957 of Elspeth Wolstencroft to Colin Tinker in Edinburgh.
He married someone else in 1960, I am wondering if he had been divorced or maybe they broke up? Can I please ask if there is a listing for them?
Thank you

Are both people deceased? Rootschat has a strict no living persons policy to protect peoples privacy
What is his marital status on the 1960 cert? Have you checked SP for a remarriage or death for E...
Where they both born in Scotland?
What is your interest in them?

No birth for either in Scotland
No marriage in 1960 in England or Scotland - where did he marry?? One in 1959 in Devon
No way of knowing if they "broke up". It would be a personal matter & not one that would be in the media or documented online. Have you looked for an actual marriage for them from 1957-1960?

Hello
Thank you for checking, he died in 2007 and his wife before him, I found their engagement announcement in Newcastle Journal in 1960 so the first marriage didn't happen. Thank you

This 2023 death in Wales is a strong probability for Elspeth:

Father's name Howard, so fits with the H of the 1957 engagement announcement too, as do her initials E and M.
This marriage in Scotland:
WOLSTENCROFT
HOWARD PERCY
BARRONS
EVELYN MARY
1920
762 / 1 / 14
INNERLEITHEN
Fits with this birth in England:
Births Jun 1925
Wolstencroft Elspeth M Barrons Petersfield 2c 302
Evelyn Mary Barrons' death notice in Wales in 1967, refers to her as Evelyn (Lynda) and refers to her husband as late of Edinburgh. Howard died in 1976. Both had a Llandudno address.

Thank you, that's interesting that she never married. Collin was from Finchley, born in Blackpool so they got around. They would have met at university as they were affluent professional people unlike our branch of the family!
Thanks & best wishes
