I have read that some military regiments were billeted at the Raven Hall Hotel at Ravenscar in North Yorkshire and that it may have been used as a training establishment during WW2. But I have also found what appears to be some WW1 era graffiti carved into some of the walls in the grounds.
Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Newspaper ads for the hotel appeared throughout WW1.
In WW2, there were no ads between 2 July 1940 and its reopening in March 1945.

Thank you Shaun.
That might suggest that there was no military presence during WW1 and that the military were just there for a period during WW2.
Kind regards
