Title: Anglican Churches in Hamilton, Ontario in 1893.
Post by: Eyesee on Saturday 06 April 24 05:04 BST (UK)
My great grandparents Alfred CLARKE and Miriam Mannington FAULCONER were married in Hamilton on 5 Oct 1893.

The official marriage registration does not say where the marriage took place, other than Hamilton.

Do have a handwritten certificate provided by the officiating minister, Edward M Bland, which says they were married in The Cathedral. He was the Rector.

Is anyone able to tell me if this particular church is still in existence.

Hoping someone can assist.

Thanks
Ian C

Hi,

There are several articles in the Toronto papers around that time mentioning Rev E M Brand (later Canon), rector of Christ Church Cathedral in Hamilton.   There is a notice about his resignation in 1906.  It says Rev Canon Bland has tendered his resignation as the rector of Christ Church Cathedral.  Rev E M Bland has been the rector of of the cathedral for about 13 years and for several years previous was curate there.

The Cathedral is still there, serving the Anglican community.  There is quite a bit of information online.
