Title: Missing Edith White from 1881 onwards
Post by: overlandermatt on Monday 08 April 24 12:55 BST (UK)
I'm missing an ancestor Edith White from 1881 onwards. She was born in March 1862, the first child of William and Margaret White in East Stonehouse, Devon. She appears on the 1871 and 1881 census returns and is present at her sister Clara's wedding in 1881. After that I cannot find her...

Any help much appreciated. Thank you.

She was of an age to be married herself before the next census, I would look for a marriage between 1881 & 1891 to see if any options pop up.  Then you can check for her in 1891 under married surname and see if the age/birth place matches.

Thank you for all the research! You have discovered a lot - I had wondered what had happened to Edith because the family typically stayed close to Plymouth/Stonehouse/Devonport.

The discovery of the Evenslock is very interesting. I wasn't expecting that to resurface... I posted about Edith's mother and grandmother on a different board this morning. Essentially, two of the six children (surname Lock) were given an additional Christian name (Evans) but who was Evans? Was Evans even Evens!?

Thanks once again. I've got a lot of information to digest.
