Title: Coroners Inquest 1887
Post by: Norfolk Nan on Saturday 20 April 24 14:48 BST (UK)

Louisa Riley threw herself out of a window committing suicide while insane on 5th October 1887.  She was 27 years old and had that year given birth to a daughter.  The address on the death cert is Peabody Buildings, Ebury Bridge, Westminster.  How do I find out more please?

There may be newspaper reports. Have you checked the BNA? Was there an inquest, as your thread subject line mentions?

Was there an inquest? If so, what is the Coroner's name please?

The Ebury Bridge address is probably where the inquest was held.

TIP: When searching for inquests in the newspapers search for just the Coroner's surname, then narrow the results down to the dates in question.

Though I'm drawing a blank for your lady in the old papers, a couple of mentions of Mr John Troutbeck in Oct 1887 say he was Deputy Coroner for The City and Liberty of Westminster.

It looks like the coroner's records for the time frame no longer exist.

Well, I appreciate the second set  of eyes.  That's a shame, the poor woman had a baby at the beginning of that year so perhaps it was post-partum psychosis but unless I find a coroners report or a newspaper report we'll never know.  So sad.

Thank you again for all your help.  ;D
