On Familysearch I have found a burial entry for Emma Matilda Sheen at the above church, the burial date given is 14 February 1869. but there's no image on there or other ppv websites. I've also checked FreeBMD and FreeReg, no sign of her.
There's no sign of a death certificate that I can see for her on GRO. Please could someone take a look at the burial register and see if it provides any additional information as I'm baffled.
Many thanks
BG :)

Thanks Rosie, it would seem that it has been wrongly transcribed on Familysearch. Sadly it's not the person I'm looking for then :(

Where was the last sighting of her? Was that Kent?

Who was she living with on the last census - was she a widow?
-
The last sighting was in France 30 years earlier. It's beginning to look as if she never actually returned to England. Her son married in Kent, so it was just a thought that perhaps she had moved there too, and the name Emma Matilda fitted, so clutching at straws I'm afraid.
Thanks for the help both of you. I'll go back to the drawing board and try some of the French resources. Given that her so committed bigamy, she was perhaps too embarrassed to stay in England.

A bit of a long shot but was her maiden name Williams? If so have you seen the probate record for Emma Matilda Williams, probate 12 Aug 1859, died 5 November 1855 in Boulogne. Probably not her as it says she was a spinster but I was drawn to the French connection.

Pinetree - that looks very feasible - thank you.
I'll get a copy of that will. She was a Williams, so perhaps after her husband died or perhaps with the shame of her sons behaviour she reverted to her maiden name!
The sister named Mary Ann is bothering me though as I don't recognise that one. but I will absolutely check it out.
Thank you so much
