I am trying to find a record of death for George Cattle born c 1776 Barton on Humber. His wife was Nancy Cattle who can be found as a widow in the 1841 census living at Cumberland Street, Sculcoates. She died in 1859 aged 80, with her obituary referring to her “ late husband George Cattle, mariner, of this town (Hull)” . I presume George died before 1839 when official records began ,any ideas where I might look?

The 1833 death seems a good possibility, just a shame no occupation given, the dates sit quite nicely. He ( George) is given as father on his daughter, Martha marriage certificate of July 24th 1837, and not mentioned as deceased ( not sure if that information was always entered on certificate though?).
I have already seen the newspaper report which is for his sons death, George junior.

It was not a question that had to be asked, the form asks for name and occupation of father. Fathers names and occupations are sometimes invented on marriage certificates in cases of illegitimacy
