This might be Ellen Black marrying - 23 June 1916 - to Benjamin Wright. No father given for Ellen but she's living at Old Portadown Road, Lurgan and one of the witnesses could be her sister Lillie (Elizabeth) Black.

Relation Adele is aware on https://www.facebook.com/groups/lurganancestry/posts/1587018958665309/ she messaged me to thank, but thanks are really due to you as saw here first. The grave is presently unmarked as the small headstone was badly vandalised.

Isobel on Friends of Shankill Graveyard (Lurgan) has since re-posted her Facebook group re.Robert Black.
Details from Shankill Register:
Robert Black, a 28 year old bachelor, of Portadown Road, Lurgan, Carter, died 28th December 1916 of “wounds in battle,” buried 30th December.

Also posted about Thomas Cummings interred in Lurgan Newline and Richard Currie of Drumcree.

That's great. Nice to see these men are not forgotten and especially good if a relative is present at a dedication service of a headstone or special plaque.  :)

Thank You
Sandra

His death record differs slightly.
He was 27 yrs, a car driver and his cause of death was heart disease and anasarca. His mother Ellen was the informant. Registered 17 January 1917.

Thank you Kiltaglassan.

To avoid further confusion this is the Robert Black who died 28 December 1916

Rifleman Black, Robert

Royal Irish Rifles

who died on Thursday, 28th December 1916

Son of Robert and Ellen Black, of Old Portadown Road, Lurgan, Co. Armagh.

Lurgan Mail: 6th January 1917 -

Military Funeral in Lurgan

After a long and painful illness, due to gas poisoning at the front, the death took place on Thursday last of ex-Rifleman Robert Black, R.I.R., a son of Mr Robert Black, Old Portadown Road. Deceased who volunteered at the outbreak of war, was first wounded at Hooge, and was subsequently a victim of gas poisoning, afterwards being discharged as unfit. The obsequies, thanks to representations made by Mr David Pedlow, were accorded military honours, a firing party of R.I.F., in charge of Sergeant Quinn, travelling especially from Armagh for the purpose. At the conclusion of the burial service, which was read by the Dean of Dromore, three volleys were fired over the grave, and the ceremony ended with the sounding of the “Last Post.”

Yes it does, I noted that when I posted on Lurgan Ancestry Facebook to alert the local inhabitants, but appreciate only members can access that. Sandra has transcribed the details from the Lurgan Ancestry link or the same paper Lurgan Mail 6th January 1917. Isobel who holds the cemetery burial register suggests that says "wounds in battle".

They also differ for Thomas Cummins GRO / newspaper T.B vs Gas I think.
