Title: 1851 census - Leith?
Post by: Starry on Tuesday 20 September 05 16:39 BST (UK)
Would anyone be able to look for Richard Liversedge in 1851. His children were born in 1853-55, so I presume he would be there finding his wife in this census.

He was born 11 Nov 1821 in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.

I can find no trace of the two childrens births or his marriage to Marion.

I'm hoping perhaps the 1851 will be able to give me some clues as to who she was.

There are no Liversedge's in the 1851 Midlothian census. Are you sure that is the correct spelling?

Thanks Elaine.

That is the correct spelling, but it has been mis-transcribed as Liversidge, Leversedge, Liversage etc in various places.

It is possible he hadn't arrived in Leith by 1851, and could be on the way up there.

Thanks again for looking :)
