I am looking Mary Leah Peers. On the 1861 census. She would be about 6/7 years old at the time of the census.
I've picked up what i think is the right line of Peers in the 1851 census,2/3 years before Mary was born.I would just like to confirm i have the right people by checking to see if a young Mary is living with them come 1861.
Info as per 1851 census is ,51 Harding Street,Winson Green,Birmingham.
John Peers,45,Brick Maker,Eliza Peers,44,wife
Ann 19(Thimble Maker),Jane 15(Steel Pen Maker),William 13(Brick Maker),Emma 10,John 7,Sophia 5 and Eliza 2.
Yours Hopefully !!

I've recently picked Mary up on the 1871 census, living with her parents John (63) and Eliza (63).Also living at the same address are her sister Sophia and brother William.
Mary's age is given as 23,but checking wedding certificates and census's up to 1901.I'm pretty confident she was born around 1851/1853.
It appears the Peers i've picked up in 1851 are the right family. But if anyone could find them on the census of 1861,especially where they were living,i'd be grateful.

Thank you very much for that information and for taking the time to look it up for me.
I can see from the info that you have given me they were living in what is now the Digbeth area of Birimingham, round the back of the Wholesale Markets. Macdonald Street is still there, but much changed.
Also from the age given for mary, puts her as born in 1852. Which is consistant with the documents i have on her in her later life. All point to a date of birth around 1852.
Thanks again
Stephen
