Hi
Would someone with access to the 1891 and/or 1901 censuses for Ynysybwl mind looking up two addresses for me please?
I am looking for the families of:
WILLIAM JOHN RICHARDS b. 8.12.1880 father DAVID RICHARDS, plate layer and
SARAH HANNAH ROBERTS b. 3.6.1881 father DANIEL ROBERTS, collier.
In April 1906, at the time of their marriage, William was living at 151 Robert Street, Ynysybwl and Sarah was living at 102 Robert Street. They were married at the Noddfa Welsh Baptist Chapel, High Street, Ynysybwl. Sarah was presented a bible from the Noddfa Sunday School, Ynysybwl in July 1898.
I have looked for these families online but with no success. I thought perhaps if someone can do address searches, then one or both families may be found living at one of these addresses.
I'm sorry for the long winded post, but couldn't think of how to condense it!
Regards
Sandie

Thank you so much. I had found the family in 1881, but wasn't 100% sure it was correct, but as you have come up with the same one, I think I'll go with it.
As for William Richards, I haven't a clue!
The Welsh families I'm researching are my husband's grandparents, but unfortunately his family doesn't have any other info. on either these or the other grandparents. The only 'auntie' they can remember being mentioned was a Maggie, which seems to be Sarah's sister, but that's all they had. I haven't even been able to find the GRO ref. for their births.
I did find a William John Richards in Llanrhidian Higher, in 1881, but again can't be 100%, but they must all be out there somewhere and I'll find them one day.
Again, thank you ever so much for the Roberts info.
Regards

From Freebmd -
Daniel Roberts - Mary Bowen (click on page number)
Marriage June Qtr 1870
Llanelly 11a 896
Possibility - This is the only marriage that fits. Llanelly is a sub district of Pembrey and the time fits with first child born 1873.
When searching freebmd for those born 'Aberdare' it would be reg district Merthyr Tydfil. A wider area would be Mid Glamorgan and then wider Glamorgan.
For Ystradfodwg (Pentre, Treorchy, Ynysybwl etc) it would be reg district Pontypridd. then a wider search as above.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I can't thank you enough for all the information. I had found the marriage for Mary Bowen some time ago, but because I didn't understand the districts couldn't take it any further.
The extra info. you have given me regarding the districts is going to help me no end and I can also send for the marriage cert. for Danial & Mary now, I can't wait.
You have definitely put me back on track. Thanks again for all your help.

Just thought I'd let you know, I THINK I've found William in 1901!! There's a family that seems to fit living at Quarry Houses, Llanrhidian Higher - father's name and occupation match what I have on marriage certificate and Williams age and occ. seem to match.
I've been unable to get any info. on these for ages, then you intervened and now I've got stacks.
Thanks again

Glad to help, keep me updated on the cert, perhaps I can assist further.
There is a Glamorgan thread here called 'Burials in Aberdare'. Some of the info at the bottom may be applicable to you. The cem for Ynysybwl would probably be Glyntaff, there is an index CD for this, you can then phone cemetery for interment info.
You can also email the reference library at Treorchy and ask for info to locate Ynysybwl burials, electrol registers etc. He is very helpful and will prob give you a local Pontypridd library email.

replace (a)
ps. Another tip for searching Freebmd - click on district and it will give you all sub - districts

RE: William John Richards
Other info not applicable. Looks like the right family. Do you need any more help with census for this family?
:)

Thanks for the tips re: burials and contact address for reference library, this will be very useful. Do you know if they hold copies of local papers?
As for censuses for William Richards, I have now got '81 and 1901 censuses so I'm not so bothered about the '91, but that's not to say I won't be next time I hit a brickwall!!
Again many thanks for all your help

I am sure they have local papers, but you would have to check with them the extent.
Good luck in your research

Just to let you know that thanks to your help I was able to pin down the birth certificate of Sarah Roberts, which in turn confirmed mother as Mary Bowen, so have now got Mary and Daniel's marriage certificate. The marriage cert. confirms Daniel's fathers name as the same as the censuses you found so I believe these were also correct.
I really can't thank you enough, without your help I'd still be sitting here pulling my hair out, not knowing where to look.
Again, a huge thankyou
