Title: Song of the Genealogist
Post by: philipsearching on Monday 17 October 05 23:00 BST (UK)
Isn't it time we had a genealogists song?
To start the ball rolling I offer the following (to be sung to the tune of "The twelve days of Christmas"):

In the first month of searching I added to my tree
An unregistered baby.

In the second month of searching I added to my tree
Two unwed parents and an unregistered baby.

In the third month of searching I added to my tree
Three transported convicts…..

In the fourth month of searching I added to my tree
Four washerwomen…..

In the fifth month of searching I added to my tree
Five Ag Labs…..

In the sixth month of searching I added to my tree
Six unknown siblings…..

In the seventh month of searching I added to my tree
Seven Great War soldiers…..

In the eighth month of searching I added to my tree
Eight great grandparents…..

In the ninth month of searching I added to my tree
Nine domestic servants.....

In the tenth month of searching I added to my tree
Ten teenage miners…..

In the eleventh month of searching I added to my tree
Eleven aged paupers…..

In the twelfth month of searching I added to my tree
Twelve distant cousins
Eleven aged paupers
Ten teenage miners
Nine domestic servants
Eight great grandparents
Seven Great War soldiers
Six unknown siblings
Five Ag Labs
Four washerwomen
Three transported convicts
Two unwed parents
And a unregistered baby.

Can anyone come up with other songs?
Philip

Good one Philip

I wish I hadn't read it though  ;D

I shall go round all day now, singing.........."five ag labs" !!!

No good at making up songs myself, but hope others rise to your challenge.

ATB,

Carol

Scrolling through some of my early posts (to check a reference about an ancestor - honest!) I came across this oddity.  As Christmas approaches I decided to resurrect the post for the benefit of any Rootschatters who may wish to join our merry choir, go a-wassailing, and face a lifetime ban from every hostelry in the land.  ;D
