Title: Holden Ancestors
Post by: Yetiman on Tuesday 08 November 05 20:00 GMT (UK)
Can anyone help ???. I've come to a standstill trying to find info beyond my G/Grandfather William Holden born 24-10-1847 at Glendalough, Wicklow. He married Annie Cunningham, (no other info on her), don't no where or when.
His father was, I believe, John Holden married to Anastasia Gaffney. Again any information regarding them would be very much appreciated.

Hi Yetiman

Have you looked at the Census of 1911 from the National Archives of Ireland. There are 25 families of Holden listed on the Wicklow Census.

Hi.
I'm not too sure whether this will help or more to the point confuse the issue!!!

My grandfather John Holden was born approx 1876 and died in 1947 which makes him 70 yrs old at time of death.
I know nothing of his father or mother or even if he had any brothers or sisters, but he was married to Bridget Holden, nee Berney, and they lived at 12 Tullowbeg St,Tullow,Carlow.

They went on to have 10 children and I am led to believe that during their lives they lived in St Mullins which is just outside of Graiguenamanagh, not far from the Kilkenny border.

John Holden died in his sisters house, her name was Doyle at the time, in Tinnahinch on the 4th Sept 1947.

I have no idea where my grandfather was born,or as previously mentioned, who his parents were.

@LiamTullow Was John Holden's parents John Holden (1845-1918) and Mary (Lawlor) Holden (1845-1924?  John's parents were Michael and Esther (Paige) Holden.

Hello All

Yetiman hasn't been online here since 2009 and Liam hasn't been online here since 2014 so won't have received all these new notifications.

I've sent them a personal message to let them know, fingers crossed they return soon.
