I found this family on the 1841 census living with Jane DODSON at Henderskelfe. Jane was around 80 at the time so really don't expect her to still be alive. Hannah appears to be her daughter and is most probably a sister to my Ann DODSON born at Henderskelfe about 1799. John HARDICK married Hannah DODSON 26th Jan 1824 Bulmer.
I would really appreciate a check of the 1851 census most probably at Henderskelfe for:
HARDWICK John abt 1795 Blacksmith
Hannah abt 1800
David abt 1829
Joseph abt 1831
George abt 1833
John abt 1835
William 1839
DODSON Jane abt 1760
Thanks

Oly, that's lovely, thanks so much. I love the Henderskelfe name too especially spelled with the e on the end. 8) Also Huttons Ambo. I would love to see these places.
I wondered what happened to those boys. I've since discovered their older sister Jane 1824 married Peter DARLEY in 1845 and were living at Huttons Ambo. There was also Maria 1826 and Thomas 1828.
My ancestor, Ann DODSON born at Henderskelfe about 1799 married George SOLLITT at Huttons Ambo. They also had a Maria and a David but Dodson 1825 is my line.
best wishes

Hello Sandra
This reply is just an excuse to write 'Huttons Ambo Only' which is a road sign on the A64
near Malton. Also near Settrington is a Cottage that takes in boarders interested in family
history, with plenty of info on the locality, one of our group has used it. Me and my wife have
our last holiday of the year in the area and always find something new in the villages to marvel at.
No luck with the other Hardwicks
A few Sollitt and Darley families at Hutton including-
