Hi

I have Anne Airey (my 5x great grandmother) born on 11th Nov 1795 in Kendal, Westmorland.  Her parents were William Airey born c1770- Westmorland and Jane Strickland born c1772 Westmorland.

Anne also had a brother I believe called William born 11 Mar 1798 again in Kendal.

I haven't got any further information with this family yet.

Have you any connection with these Aireys

Regards
Sharman

Are you a direct descendant of an Airey kylajane? We might have a match in our trees I'm always hoping to discover family somewhere as I'm the last one left my side now 😞

I have some Aireys through marriage....
'Charles William Heap was married 19Feb.1882 at St. Mary's, Lancaster, to Mary Margaret Airey (b.1862). Witnesses were John and Harriet Dobson. Charles W. was described as an ironmonger, and is thought to have done quite well for himself in Croydon (and was described as from Croydon). After Charles' death, probate was granted on 8 April 1921, to Mary Margaret, widow, and Emily Mabe. Effects more than £16,000.
Children... Walter b.1882, Eustace b.1883 in Leyburn and Ethel Constance b.1883 (at no.2, Airthwaite in Kendal, the Airey family home) then Dora Mary b.1886 in Fulham, and Muriel b.1893 also in Fulham.'

Hello Sue. No connection that I can find at present. My Airey antecedents were mostly from Kentmere in Westmorland (which is very near Kendal) so maybe there is a link? James Airey & his wife are buried in Kentmere churchyard & my mother is descended from one of his sons. Regards. K

Hi, I've just found this thread. I am an Airey, my family are in East Yorkshire. My great-grandfather was Robert Airey (b.1865) from Preston. He married Margaret Coward. They moved to Hull sometime between 1913 and 1915.

His parents were Robert Airey (b.1840) and Mary Agnes Shaw, from Westmorland. Robert's parents were Thomas & Mary (maiden name unknown), born early 1800s in Westmorland. I believe I have a few relatives in this thread!

Hi A lot of Airey’s in my husband’s tree. Samuel Airey 1792 had a daughter Maria Airey1849 who married William Baxter. All these are linked to Westmorland. Maria had a daughter Elizabeth Anne Baxter 1871 she would be my husband’s great grandmother.

I thought I was an Airey Descendant My Grandmother was Eleanor Airey. Daughter of Thomas Lee Airey b1880 and Eleanor Dover. Thomas Lee's mother was Elizabeth Aireyb1840  (neeWillan) who married William Airey. However Thomas Lee's father was a Lodger called John Lee and William Airey had been dead for quite some time when Thomas was born. Interesting family though, Elizabeth was quite a character by the look of it.
