Would be very grateful if SKS could trace the following family in the 1841 census. The ages quoted were taken from a passenger list September, 1847.
when the family emigrated to America so they would obviously have been about 6 years younger at census time. Thanks for your time. Ljay
James Hanley 64
Betty Hanley 54
Martin Hanley 22
Patrick Hanley 20
John Hanley 18
Mary Hanley 17
James Hanley 14
Roger Hanley 12

The 1841 census was largely destroyed in the Public Record Office fire of 1922, the earliest in existence for Co. Roscommon is 1901. There may be a record of James Hanly in the earlier Tithe Applotment. You will be aware that the family were victims of the Ballykilcline evictions, there is a Ballykilcline Society which could help.

Hi Coolcam - thanks very much for this. I have not seen either of these webpages before so will be investigating further. Best wishes with your research. Ljay
