Title: Charmans - Llanrhystud/Llanfihangel etc
Post by: Colin Charman on Tuesday 06 December 05 18:39 GMT (UK)
I have a Charles CHARMAN died 1Q1854 in Carmarthen registration district. Does anyone have his age at death and his burial place/date please?

He married in 2Q1851 in Aberystwyth Reg District - I think to an Elizabeth JONES. I like the detail of this marriage too please.

I do know he had a son Henry in 1850 (!) in Holmwood, Surrey.  Does anyone have them in the 1851 census?

They went on to have a son John Charman baptised Llanrhystud 16/5/1852 and Charles Charman baptised Llanllwch 15/12/1853. I can't locate then in 1861 or 1871 and then in 1881 they give their birth place as Llanfihangel.

I'd be glad to sort these strays out.

This is extremely unlikely, but have you considered

RG10/642/35/18

Head Charles, wife Eliza, children Elizabeth, Charles P, John S & James.  surname CADMAN.  Some are born Pembrokeshire.

Can post if you don't have access?

Have you located the parents in 1881 - I can only find the 2 sons?

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

The father (Charles Charman) appears to have died in 1854 (details in prev posting) so he shouldnt turn up in later censuses. The mother (Elizabeth probably Jones) just seems to have disappeared.  The children (Henry, John and Charles) all turn up in 1881 but I cant find them in the previous censi.

Hello,

I see that this is an old post but I may be able to help!

I have a Charles Charman in my family (pretty sure he is my great great great grandfather!!!!)
From the Llanfihangel y Creuddyn area.

I do have more information if you are interested - me and my mum are trying to track them back further than him!
