Title: Garvey family Armagh
Post by: jean Sandra on Tuesday 14 September 04 10:05 BST (UK)
Hi,
does anyone know how I can find further information on the family of my husband's great grandmother Mary Garvey?
Her father was James Garvey a gardener.
Mary was born in Armagh about 1846.
At some point she moved to Bolton where she married in 1871.
Mary had at least 2 brothers James and John and they could have lived in Liverpool prior to moving to Bolton.
Any information would be wonderful.
Regards
Jean Sandra

Hi,

Have you checked the Griffiths Valuation for her father? there is a link in this list. Once you have the parish or townland, you have to go to parish records for her birth and any other siblings.

Sometimes siblings moved to the same area. Any others in Bolton?

Hi,
any suggestions how I check the Griffiths valuation for Mary's father James Garvey, a gardener from County Armagh?
Yes, there was another Garvey at the time in Bolton I will check him out.
Many thanks

Hi,

There are 3 James Garvey in Armagh at the time of the Griffith's valuation , 1864 in Armagh. They are in Tullydonnell O'Callaghan Creggan,  Balleer Lissnadill and Tannaghmore Mullaghbrack.

Check this webpage out for Garveys

Next you have to check for Mary's baptism in the parish records.
