Would anymore look up for me a Mary Havard born in Talgarth about 1851.
She married Morgan Walters (born Sept. quarter 1856). On 6th Sept. 1879 at the parish church of Llanfigan, Brecknock. Marriage cert. notes:
Mary Havard, 27? servant maid, born Talgarth, father Philip Havard, labourer
Morgan Walters, 22? farm labourer, born Llanfigan, father walter Walters, carpenter.
By 1881 the family are living at 53, Upper High Street, Pengam, Bedwellty, Mon.
with their son William Walters age 18 months,
Mary's brother William Harvard became their lodger for a number of years in 1901 aged 42 he is still with them.
One of my family members told me Mary's father Philip Havard bought a farm near Pengam, Mon.
Can any find information for Mary, or the family at Talgarth?

Dear Rhys
Many thanks for your help. There is no age on Mary's marriage cert. Only her birth for Talgarth and her father is named Philip.
Working back from the 1881 census she is aged 30, birth around 1850-1851, the same on the 1901 census she is aged 50, birth around 1850-1851. I know she had a brother named william and a sister called sarah.
The family you found fits in with the knowledge I have of the family. Expect for Marys birth 4-5 years out with the age given on the census returns.
I have always thought Mary had the first toy boy in the family, being 6-7 years older than my great, grandfather Morgan Walters (Born Sept. quarter 1856. But if she was born in 1846 the age gap becomes greater.
Maybe this is the correct Mary but lied about being older.

Just in case it helps, there is a record of a marriage bond between
"ROWLEY, Mary, sp., Abergavenny, MON. 1837, April 22. At A. Philip Havard."
on the National Library of Wales document search site - accessed via

Dear John
Did your family member have a brother named Philip? Your Philip could be Philips father, then the trees would match. Many thanks for your help.
