Hi all,.
I have found the birth for my g, g, grandmother Polly Lowther in 1893, in Stokesley, North Yorkshire.
I have also found her Marriage to my g, g, grandfather JOhn Newby Stephenson.
This was in 1904.
Now i aint brill at maths, but even I know she was only 11 at the time!! Nearly 12.
Was this legal..surely not, how did they get to marry when she was so young??
Also I can not locate either of them in the census for 1901.
They married in Easington, County Durham in Dec 1904.
Can anyone help.

Hi Colleen,
I'm not sure it's the same person...

Have you considered ordering the marriage certificate? Perhaps she was a widow and therefore not to be found under that name?
-
Do you have a copy of the marriage cert giving father's name?
What is her age on the certificate?
