I have been to Kew Home Office and found details of a marriage of Josiah Thomas in 1860 Sept. Vol 11a Page 262...but I have failed to find who he married....where do I go now BMD have no record of him being married? But he was ! ::) Help.. bel

Hi Bel
You should be able to purchase the marriage certificate
with the reference number you have.
Is he the Josiah with Children Benjamin and Florence who was a widower in 1871.
If so he was probably married to a Mary from Bishton
in 1861.
Ancestry is off line at the moment.
I will have a look around for further info later.

Hi
Hope i am on the right track
The Mary married to Josiah in 1861 WAS 29.
There were two Mary`s born Bishton on the 1851
census born around 1832. One being a Mary Davies.
The Ancestry .UK new Beta index of bmd`s has a Mary
Davies marriage September 1860 Newport M 11a 262.
You can check for yourself. The service is free to all at present.
