On the first Monday in February 1879 my grand father became Assistant School Master in Welshpool Boys School. He had left Welshpool Boys School by 1884 and was School Master in Porth y Waen School, situated between Welshpool and Oswestry.Can anyone tell me anything about Welshpool Boys School or when he may have left that school and similar for Porth y Waen School or any thing of interest Many thanks.

I googled Porth y Waen school and see that it's now a private house, used as a base for a driving school!!!

I know it's a long shot but just maybe the owner might know a bit of history about their house :D
The Powys Archives in Llandrindod Wells would be your best bet for schools information:

If you google Welshpool Boys Grammar School you should find quite a bit of information.

Porth y Waen school was in Shropshire Education area not Powys my son went there for a short while in 1973/4.
