Can anyone help me with this. I'm looking for anything on family of Alexander Anderson, (1845–1909). Poet, son of a quarrier at Kirkconnel, Dumfriesshire, became a surfaceman on the railway. My great aunt is certain that he is a relative but her family are connected to Cumnock. He wrote the poem, Cuddle Doon, which I think may have been about my great aunt, grandmother and their brothers and sisters.
Can someone help?

Hello Sharon,
The John Anderson, who married Jane Kennedy, was born in Kirkconnell, Dumfries, he had a brother named Alexander, born about 1840, in the same place.

Thankyou! I have John Anderson and jane Kennedy as my GGGgrandparents. Do you know who John and Alexander's parents were? I have John Anderson and Elisabeth Murray down for them. I dont have any dates for them.

Yes John's parent's were John Anderson, and Elizabeth Murray, do you not have John, and Jane Kennedy's, marriage certificate that would confirm both sets of parent's.

I got their names from John Anderson and Jane Kennedy's marriage certificate. I dont know if Alexander Anderson (1845) is related, but my family are convinced. I wonder if John had any brothers who had the poet, Alexander Anderson.

There were births for John Anderson, and Elizabeth Murray's, children on the IGI, but they were submission's from a patron of the mormon society, these types of submission's you sometimes cannot take as gospel, but John Anderson, who married Jane Kennedy, is in the 1881 census, aged 43y, he states that he was born in Kirkconnell, Dumfries, and one of the submission on the IGI, gives a John Anderson, born 1837, to John Anderson, and Elizabeth Murray, in Kirkconnell, Dumfries.
By the way I sent you a personal message regarding the date of the marriage between James McCreadie, and Margaret White Anderson, did you receive it and if so was my e-mail address attached, if so e-mail me privately and I will give you some more details regarding your family.

For anyone else who could help me, can you tell me if John Anderson b.1802 and James Anderson b. 1807, both in Kirkconnel, are brothers? James married Isabella Cowan. If so, that would link me to Alexander Anderson, the poet.

I managed to discover that James and John Anderson where brothers and that James had a son, Alexander - the famous Kirkconnel poet. So I now have a famous ancestor ;D
