With all the interest displayed in a 'meet', everybody seems to have overlooked the suggestion slipped in there, for a T or Sweat shirt for all us RootsChat affectionionados.
These, with a suitable, low key logo, would prove I think a sure fire winner, just imagine seeing somebody wearing one anywhere in the world, and being able to say to them, Hey, I've got one of those at home!
I used to work for a yacht charter company in Cornwall, a small place called Mylor Harbour, we used to sell T & Sweat shirts with a small logo of a yacht with the words 'Mylor Yacht Harbour' embroidered underneath. I used to purchase (at cost thanks to a nice boss) these for my father, and many was the time that he would return from one of his and my mother's caravan holidays with the words...."you will never guess who I met who knows Mylor"
Come on you lot, surely somebody out there knows of someone who could get this going on the web.

i am a member of another forum and we have t-shirts with our forum motif on along with our forum nickname and our real names underneath and when we meet up we wear our t-shirts and everybody knows who's who i think it's a great idea :)
-
Doesnt see to be a huge response to this idea, if I search the web and find out the likelihood of getting one printed up it would need quite a few more to make the thing viable. Ill wait a while and see how it goes.

Lindy ;D
we did have a few posts about T shirts on the 'Meet' thread.
Only one from Graceland remains as Kazza deleted the others due to the thread getting 'off topic' and confusing to those wishing to attend in November.
From memory there was a post from Admin about the possibility of T shirts in time for the meet.
Trystan would have answered you by now but he is busy moving house.
I am sure one of the moderators or Trystan himself will get back to you soon.

I would buy one. I probably will not be able to get to the "meets" but I would wear it at any other time. I would be thrilled if someone out and about recognised it and spoke to me.
Count me in.

Hi all
Earlier this year, I suggested to Trystan & Sara that I was prepared to attend Family History Fairs for and on behalf of Rootschat to promote our site.
There was talk also of doing a live demonstration of how Rootschat works etc - and I of course would have all of my computers (1 base, 2 Laptops) and all of my Sussex Archives to help researchers if they had ancestors in Sussex etc.
At that time I was informed by Sarah that they would provide TShirts with the Rootschat Logo on them and Sarah made enquiries about getting some done; and I was led to believe that it was all in hand.
Unfortunately we could not get in to the Fairs that we wanted - they had all been booked up months previously - so it did not happen THIS YEAR; but watch out for 2005
So, the gist of this message is - Rootschat Tshirts are in Hand and would / should become available in the near future

sorry cant help with a web site for the t-shirts somebody on the forum designed the motto and printed them out on that iron on paper we then pressed them on to our own t-shirts it was a lot of hassle
-
i made enquiries per the t shirts and recieved this email from a firm called Perfect Images.I sent a url of rootschat logo:
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. The logo looks fine. It will be done as a transfer and heat pressed to the shirts. If its just the logo printed on a white T-shirt the cheapest I could do would be £5.60 per shirt.(The shirts are good quality ones 100% combined cotton and available in sizes from small to XXL)
response and thoughts please.

i think that is very reasonable i don't think you would get them anywhere else for much less count me in for one
-
Sounds like a good deal to me. Put me down for one.
-
Me too, please!
-
Sounds good - shall we have a little "RootsChat Shoppe" for T-shirts, and just general basic genealogy stuff? ("chi-ching"- I wish)
I know Sarah is looking to have machine-embroidered sweatshirts made for the RootsChat meet. Or Hi-Viz Jackets so we stand out in a Family History fair!!! :)
-
Would love one... put my name down for an order... either a t/shirt or a sweatshirt... not telling a size though here in public :-[
Mo
-
Add me to the list please Jaq. Trystan, will the machine-embroidered sweatshirts only be available for those who can attend the meet? :)
-
Hi Guys,
Just to let you know what I have been upto and what my thoughts are.
I thought that initially T Shirts would be best, as they can be worn all year round. Polo Shirts would be more flattering and would last longer.
I looked at embroidery versus screen printing and cost wise they came very close but to have our usernames on as well, embroidery would be the best option. Price for these is about £12.00 there abouts.
So I am looking at a beige Polo Shirt with the RootsChat Emblem on the left top breast with your name if you wish in RootsChat Colours sizes S-XL as standard. Mind you Chris 1066land's may have his name in gold thread !!No Trystan, Neon is not an option unless you want one for you yourself.
It is best if I do a batch in one go as there is a set fee I have to pay up front however many we have. Yes they would be ready for the meet and also we will offer them from the site.
Sarah
P.S. Any Ladies and Gents can PM me with sizes if they don't want Trystan to know ;)
-
:D :D Me Me Me Me toooo please, I want one, don't forget me. No way can I get to a 'meet' but I would be proud to wear one and hope to bump into others, maybe on holiday here, wearing one.
Do we need to tell you the sizes that we want now?, and for those of us who would have to have them posted, what arrangements are needed?
Sooo glad that it seems to be a real happening ;D ;D
Lindy
-
There won't be a problem posting them even out of the UK - after all, Polo shirts are light enough.
Cheques to be made payable to "The Beer Fund" - no but seriously, we'll let you know of payment arrangements when we have it finalised (blimey)
I still want a fluorecent one though, in XL. :)
-
so what is wanted then, t shirt, sweatshirts or polo shirts?
who is organizing and how would we order. Or is there a choice of either?
or is it a matter of asking permission to use the rootschat logo and order for ourselves?
i'm confused :-(
-
Jaq,
RootsChat are organising it - for the RootsChat meet, and as Chris said earlier in the thread we have had it in hand, and I said before, we'll let you know of payment arrangements when we have it finalised
Yes - the RootsChat logo is copyright of RootsChat.com :o (shock horror) but can be reproduced for links to the site, or as long as we are asked. ::)

I want one too!!! Can't get to any meets, Would be there if I could ... long way to swim from Australia ... lol.
Jaki
-
I'd buy one but I wouldn't want my Real name on it, just the name I use here. Wouldn't want every Nut calling me by my real name when I don't even know them. Let's do it. I'll take a T-shirt And a sweat.
-
I am a very tiny lady. Can I get a Childs size 14-16? This is in U.S. sizing. And why does Chris1066 get gold thread? I want Purple, the kings color. My ancestor was Cerdic, king of Wessex in 500's. Only kidding, any color will do.
-
O.K., I'll take a polo if that is what you are offering. I'm just proud to be a member here and glad to tell the world, and who knows, maybe I'll run into one of you all around here and then we can talk even if not formally introduced. Wearing our shirts will be our introductions to each other when we happen to meet.
-
Don't know how I've missed this thread.........but count me in!
Jill

I need to get a list together of the sizes people require and if they want there name also to be included.
This can be done by Personal message if you wish and I have had a few messages already.
This sizes will as standard be Small, Medium, Large or Extra Large. I can try my best to get Childrens sizes which are done by age but I can not promise that these will be available as I have only looked at Adult sizes.
RootsChat
-
If you can't get a childs I'll take a small. I Definately DO want one w/Leagen on it. I live in Ct., U.S. so won't make the meet but will be there in spirit. Leagen
-
If you stick a French Connection label on it and charge £50 for it my wife and daughters will have one too! ;D
-
Can I have one too please? T shirt..black.........
-
Great Idea!!
Count me in.
With user name would be great. I will surprise Florida Girl in
Liverpool Library one day.

-
???
I was begining to think that everybody else had had their shirts and I had been forgotten, :'( I am glad to know that this is not so ;D maybe they are having to catch the sheep or card the cotton or chase the slaves on the plantation to work harder? ::) maybe we should ask for the year to be embroidered as well as whatever else gets put on them ;)

Don't know why I didn't see this thread before! :'(
I'm 'in the business' (so to speak), with a friend, of t-shirt manufacturing.
I specialise in slightly off-the wall slogans - www.nervousnigel.com (http://www.nervousnigel.com)
I wouldn't presume to muscle in on the Rootschat t-shirt project, but I did have in mind producing something specifically for genealogists.
I'll keep you posted.
best wishes
