Hi Irene;

My great grandmother was Margaret Cleary from Shinrone (about 6 miles from Birr) in the place of Balincor in County Kings (OFFALY).  She married James Whelan and they had several children, among them James, Jr. age 21 & Mary (my grandmother) age 16,  both of whom emigrated to the U.S. in 1904 from Birr.  Do you have any further information on this family???

Thanks in advance for the courtesy of a reply.

Regards,
tom

Tom,

My GG Grandmother was Honora Cleary, she married Joseph Mulcahy in Shinrone in 1878.  Her father was James Cleary, I believe they were originally from Tipperary.  On the marriage certificate transcript I have it lists Margaret Whelan as a witness.  I wonder if this is your Margaret Cleary?  I am trying to get a handle on the Cleary family so I have more questions than answers right now.

Hi, I'm hoping someone on here can help me, Ive came up against a brick wall with my searching.
I am researching my family name Cleary, most of my close family are scattered around the East Coast of Scotland, I have managed to trace quite a few of my ancestors but I cannot find anything at all for the birth records of John Cleary (Clarey) who came from Offaly Kings County and Elizabeth Banks that he married on 20 November 1865. I got this information from another research site 'Scotlands People', as they were married in the Dundee, St Andrews, Scotland parish.
I really would be most grateful if anyone knows how I can find both their birth dates. Also if I can help anyone else who is looking for Cleary's on the East Coast of Scotland, I will give them the information that they need if I have it.
Thanks in advance,
Karen Cleary  ;D

My Cleary links are in Canada. My Aunt Effie (Baxter) married an Arthur Cleary in Shawbridge, Quebec. Arthur was born January 15, 1861, but I don't know where exactly.

Hello all,
The Prudence Cleary, was she the one born in 1794 on the 30th April
Mother was Jane and Father was Francis.
Other children they had.
Sarah 1790
Jane 1792
Leake 1796 (that's what it says!)
Just says Birr.
Also search under Parsonstown the town was known as this in those days.

Oh Dear, I see Prudence married a guy called Ardell, had a daughter called Prudence Elizabeth she died in 1857, a baby.
They lived in Riverfield Templederry in the Parish of Toomavara.
How sad.

My Cleary's came from King's County and settled in Shawbridge, Quebec (also refered to as Longue Point locally). The original immigrant was Isaac Cleary (1815 to 1896) and my relation (Arthur: husband of my aunt Effie) was either his son or grandson, however I am missing the linking data.

Birr, County Offaly was known as Parsonstown, King's County.
It is the same place.
I see Issac was born on the 9th April 1815, is that correct?
8 siblings to Issac. (you have 4 in your tree)
If you would like the info. please let me know.

Thanks Maggsie,
Yes I would definitely like the info that you have. The Cleary's were on my father's side of the family. Coincidently my mother's family, the Berry's, were also from the Birr area at Eglish Castle.
