browsing though some old posts and saw this . ..dont know if you've made any progress on this since then, but there is a possible match for the birth you are looking for on the familysearch Civil Index :

 Name: Thomas Michael King
 Registration district: Dublin South
 Record type: Birth
 year: 1872
 Volume: 2 / Page: 754

you can order a cert from the GRO using these details.

Can't find any thing for Cecelia Hodge.
Did you get Michael's birth cert?
The only Michael King I can see born Dublin in 1871 is an incomplete record father William
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1872/03262/2195876.pdf
I can't see a Thomas, Michael or Unknown in the Dublin area born to Michael and Cecelia.

Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Forgot to add
Thomas Michael 1872

Looks like the Michael from 1871.

A few things to consider.
A death cert is based on what the informant believed so may not be correct.
Birth registration started in Ireland in 1864 so was hit and miss early on.
Lots of British Army Regiments spent time in Ireland so his parents may not have married in Ireland.

There is a register of Army births, it's on FindMyPast.

If the only place you've found the parents' names is that death certificate, I wouldn't rule anything out too quickly. His marriage certificate is likely to be more accurate since he was there to give the details.

Just in case this later proves to be the correct Thomas Michael King-

Here's the baptism for Thomas Michael King (28 Sept.1864 Dublin) with parents Thomas King & Theresa, 89 Capel St.-

Hello again, I did have the marriage cert 1 July 1920 and he is aged 48 year on it. Strane that marriage cert doesnt have name of his mum on it - only her maiden name and yet it says on his death cert she is Cecelia nee HODGE.

Its Cecelia history i would like to pursue if i can.

Thanks for your interest.

Whonwas the informant on death ....I think you have to look for female Hodges of same age and not trust the Celia Cecelia forename totally

One of my ancestors recorded his GMA.s name ....But put first name of his other GMA.  He'd probably called one granny Mac and the other granny Stevenson.  ..My grandma only ever referred to herself and her sister as Polly and Peggy I had no idea they were common abbreviations in Scotland

My maternal nana had a different middle name on birth and baptism documents and nearly missed her as a baby in 1901 because no middle name Anderson her forename Maisie was written as May on census but in transcription searches.  As Mary .

If your Cecelia used her middle name more commonly it wouldn't come up on searches

Happy hunting.  ?

I've tried all sorts of combinations and different records. I can't find anything.
I can't find a King/Hodge combination.
Perhaps trying for Michael's military record might open up some avenues.

He was 24, a shopkeeper and his father Cornelius was a merchant. She was 22, also a shopkeeper and her father Patrick was also a merchant.
Note one of the witnesses was Norah Lyden who was with her at both census dates.

Cecilia H King died in 1920. The informant was her daughter Mona C King.
