On one of the census, it said their year of immigration was 1873 (from Canada to USA)  I'll double check that.

Do you have Mary Jane's birth in Aurora?  Or know who her parents are?

Karen

i have Mary Janes birth in Aurora as 15/12/1840.  It would make sense that they moved to Us in 1873.  I am really stuck on how as to find the date Jeremiah left Uk.  I have him in the england 1851 census, and the 1871 in Canada, but nowhere in the 1861 census.  It would also be fantastic if I could obtain a copy of his marriage cert

I've also seen that, but don't think its the one.  On all the census's it says she was born in Canada.  Also if she was born in England I think there would be a good chance that I'd be able to find the wedding date presuming that was in England too.

on the 1880 us census her birthplace is given as eng
could it be possible they either married in england then emigrated or
emigrated and then married in canada, thier marriage i would think was abt. 1854.

Ontario Marriage Registrations didn't start until 1858.

Do you have something that says Aurora?

it is possible, i was told Aurora was her birthplace by a lady in US whose huband is her great grandmother.  I had originally presumed that Aurora was in US, but have since found Canada

Is York County - Ontario, sorry my geog's rubbish.  I don't think the marriage can be 1854 as Mary would only be 14.plus they had 7 children, first being born 1865 so that would be big gap!!  Have no information about Marys family at all

Yes, if it was registered.  I'm not having luck on ancestry finding it, but next time I'm at the library I can look at the original indexes for you.  I won't be going till Saturday.

thanks for all the info.  I'm actually in touch with the Karen you mention.  We are trying to prove we have the same Jeremiah so that we cam connect our family trees.  I have a feeling I have Jeremiah in the 1870 census in Ontario as head of the family, but am at work at present, so will check when I get home.  Thanks again Diane

Wow, he sure did get around.  If he was single then that narrows down his marriage to a 5 year search which is great.
