Hello-
Thanks for reading this..
I need help bad in Ontario.. Pickering area is my guess.
2 deaths..
Mary Scott wife of Abraham Scott died in 1857 according to Abrahams Bible.
1861 census.. list a female death with in the past 12 months in the Scott Household of Pickering, age not told, name not told.
Last name would be Scott..
Either the bible is incorrect, or this death in 1861 census, is the daughter Emma Scott, who I have lost , she was not in 1861 census , least I did not see her. I did see one once at age 10 which she would have been, but not with her parents, and I have not been able to locate that census again, I thought it was over by Toronto , where we believe that they may have entered Canada in. There was other family there in the area before they came over from England.
The bible does not mention , anything on the daughter except her birth in Eng. 1851 .
Can someone - anyone help please.. ??? I have been a few years at this brick wall. Added a few greys along the way over it too.. :)
Thanks - for what ever information that I recieve.. its all welcomed !

Hello Karen,
Talk about the Big Bang .. Holy Cow.. You made it !!!!!!!!
I can not tell you what your information has provided me here..
I can not even begin to give enough Thank- You's for it.
I can not give thanks- enough to this message board.
It has been a 7 yr search, for some kind of answer on the Questions I asked on here last night .
And over night you Karen, made an explosion that totally has blown my brain away.
(not that I have a ton, but what few I have .. are now scattered about that brick wall, along side the dust I made over the past years, kicking but getting no where on this while your one kick- just went KaBOOOM !!! )
I sure did not expect that answer .. and sit here in 'shock' ..total HOLY COW.
Your answer is like- a "pot o' gold" at the end of that long rainbow !
I have to adjust , breath deeply..calm myself.. before I ask my next Question's.
And I know many will come from this . But right now- this answer has taken my thoughts away !
In the mean time- I am praying your kindness never leaves you
Oh, my Gosh- Thank You,
From all the Scott descendants- who have needed these answers !
Smiles, Hugs-

I am delighted with this board.. and YOU wonderful as pie here.. doing great work like that WoW !!
AND still shocked. :o
I want to jump right in an get my long needed answers..
I have past that information to my family, that really wanted to know what happened to our Emma..
Now to locate her death.. other children..
I went to the library and did find her in 1911 census HOOORRAYYYY again, eh.
She was living in Toronto Center.. I do not know a thing about these Countys, towns etc..
Went to OCFA.. got nothing ..there
Then went to see could I dig out where these places were..got lost as a goose..(again, another brain thing. .. what can I say :P ).
I would love a death on her and hub and children..that I found.
I am just to giddy to settle down and think this out.. today. Once I absorb your work .. I should be able to ask..much better questions.. now did you notice I said Should.. :P
But, I do get just lost in Canada searching.
Hugs again, your the best !!

This registration confuses me a bit. It is registered in Ontario County, which is where both Brock Township and Sunderland (a place in Brock Township) are. But it says the marriage took place in Peterborough, which is the main city of Peterborough County. Strange.
Oh look - it has also been registered in Peterborough County, with more detail.

Hello MJP-
Oh my gosh !! ;D
Thank You for this record, this is one child that I had not found.. in the few census that I have since located the family... (my access is limited)
so its a double wammy here, from you !!
You also answered a wonder of mine- on the town of Sunderland.
I get crazy, with where these places are at !!
So if I may ask-
Would you know then where Toronto Centeris at ? County ??
That is where I found his parents in 1911 census - Toronto Center Ward 13 ,at 21 Elm St. ( I found that on line, was shocked too, I have been having a hard time digging out Ontario, Canada old records and things.
I do appreciate all the information provided here on this family. Everyone on here has been so very nice.. wow , who could ask for anything more .
Your Great!! a Gem for us out of the area- country..etc !!
Wonderful Job !!
Thanks,
LAH

Hi LAH,
Historically, any place in Toronto would be considered to be in York County. (Not all of Ontario's counties exist anymore - many have become "metropolitan areas" and other such things). But for genealogy purposes, Toronto is in York Co. A great site for Ontario research is the Ontario Locator
http://www.geneofun.on.ca/ontariolocator/
It will tell you the township and (historical) county of any place in Ontario. It will also give you former names, boundary changes, etc... It's handy!
Also, a great site for modern street maps is http://maps.google.ca . Just type in the street address, city name, and province. Your 21 elm street is there, right in downtown Toronto. (You want "21 Elm Street, Toronto" not the other choices it gives you, which are other Elm Streets in modern suburbs of Toronto).
Hope this helps!

Hello MJP,
I have been to this site you posted.. thanks for sharing it. The site and you have both helped me! Many Thanks !
This searching ancestors has its way of teaching also. Just to bad that I did not learn this in my "younger year's" when my retention was at a peak ;).
Many thanks to you for taking your time to help us ??? "clueless wanderer's", as we stumble around the country side looking. Yes I can envision me- in my best- with my bonnet on 8).. ducking the tree branches on my pony- as I gather the last crumbs of the trail left out in the wilderness in that area by my family- they are playing hide and seek with out me again it seems :'(
When along comes someone nice such as You :) and drops another clue for me to follow .
Thank You,
Smiles for a great day where ever you are

Aint it funny. Thanks to another mailing list I made contact with a woman who was born and raised in the same village as me went to school 5 years apart. She moved to Toronto and lived around the corner from where my great great great Uncle lived and upon her return moved to Sussex and a village not 5 minutes from where I used to live. She put me in touch with a lady in Toronto who is 5 days as smashed a brick wall and not only smashed it but put the branch to bed. Names dates death dates copies of wills, directories and obituaries. No children born to the marriage so thats the end of that one. Well not quite. In his will it states he had copyrighted work both published and unpublished and his wife was to get all the royalties from such. Now if only I could discover what he had published. Maybe this is where I get my love of Copyright law from. Anyway thought I would share and to show how hanging in there, returning to the Brick walls does in the end pay dividendes

Hello Rob,
Ahh the brick walls.. if it were not for them.. I do think the search would be a tad boring, with out them walls to crash down - just what would keep us looking this way ??? and then ;D .
I, Kinda like the thrill of the hunt myself.
But, some times- enough is just enough :o just one good crack helps.
If one questions is answered , along comes 20 more with it to be answered.
hangin in here ;D - Yes
Thanks for your reply always nice to be encouraged to keep going, the answer is there waiting me. Nice meeting everyone on here.. such nice place this site is !
Hugs with Smiles :)
