Title: George GRAHAM, born c.1764 in Canonbie
Post by: scrivomcdivo on Sunday 18 June 06 23:57 BST (UK)
I am hoping to find further information on George GRAHAM, born c.1764 in Canonbie, Dumfriesshire. George went on to marry a Mary JACKSON, born c.1768 also in Canonbie. Their marriage took place in Canonbie on 02 May 1789. They then went on to have seven children together; Mary, John, James, William, Ann, Archibald and another James (I am assuming the first James died).

Does anybody have any information?

Hi N

I did check pretty thoroughly on SP but I couldn'y find anything at all. Think it might be a check on the dates for the start of the Canonbie records or Kirk session minutes.

Great -- thanks for the photos!  ;D

I believe that this George Graham is one of myGGGGgrandfather, James Graham's (b. 1771, m. Isobel Borthwick) brothers.

These photos are really interesting, I can put them in photoshop and see if I can improve the detail and readability.

Thanks for responding.

Hi,
I notice that George was baptized in Canonbie in 1764 and buried in Thornethwaite. I am wondering if there is any relation to William Graham (of Knottyholme) and Agnes Armstrong. I have been unable to find their marriage however their children are:
Francis bap. Dec 30th, 1758,
Thomas (of Thornethwaite) bap Apr 20th 1760,
Helen (of Knottyholme) bap. May 26th, 1760,
Mary (of Thornethwaite) bap June 23rd, 1763,
Catherine bap Sept. 24th, 1767,
and so on. As is seen there is a gap in baptisms between Mary and Catherine.
Is there any knowledge if we are talking of the same Graham family?

Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone has come across new information on this George who was born in 1764 and whom were his parents.
I am always interested in William GRAHAM and his wife Agnes who started to have children in 1758 in Thorniethwaite, Knottyholme, and Canonbie

Grahamhunter / Razzy,

Here's who is in my family tree:

William Graham (1743-1820) married Agnes Byers (b. 1741 or 1742) my ggggg grandparents
children of William and Agnes:
  John Graham Torthorwald (1765)
  Helen Graham Torthorwald (1771)
  James Graham (1771-May 8, 1855) m Isobella Borthwick (1767-1848) - my gggg grandparents
      children of James and Isobella
          Agnes  (1807) m Adam Edgar (1817)
          James  (?)
          Alexander (1809-1873) m Agnes Tidman (1811-1877)
          John Graham (1799-1866) m Helen Thompson (1802-1874)
          Isabella (Isbel) (1797-1870) m Thomas Hope (1800-1877)
William Graham (1804-1880) m Hannah Bell (1804-1874) my ggg grandparents
George Graham Knockmains (1775) m Margaret Peggy Reives
      children of George and Margaret
         William Knockmains (1806)

         Helen Netherknock (1812)
Sarah Graham Torthorwald (1777-1855) m. Patrick Byers (1778-1850)

The full tree is at Ancestry (including my gg grandfather George Lindsay Graham's full family, and the rest of the tree), still searching to find out if William Graham's (b 1743) father is James Graham born in 1711.

Grahamhunter,

I'm starting to believe that William Graham and Agnes Byers had two children named George based on your information
