I'm looking for any information on the Crispin family (or any suggestions as to where to look!)
By 1841 the family had moved to Southwark, Surrey, where they stayed:
George Crispin born c1778, a weaver
Ellen born c1784
Charles born c1816 Clonakilty
Ellen born c1828 Clonakilty
Elizabeth born c1829 Clonakilty
Elizabeth married William Bowbrick in 1851 - they were my gt-gt-gt grandparents
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Well, nearly ten years on and I am not much further forward.
There are a few Clonakilty records online and I have found that George Crispin married Ellen Calanan on 9 Dec 1812. There are some other marriages around the same time but nothing I can use to identify parents.
Any suggestions?

Many thanks for this information.
George and family are in London from the 1841 census onwards and I have the births of the children as Ireland, but it is good to know George was on the 1833 tithe return - and it gives me the name Jeremiah Crispy(Crispin) which is new to me.
Around 1810 to 1820 in Clonakilty I have found:
Jane Crispin married John Walsh
Eliza Crispin married Thadaus Callinan (1817)
Ellen Crispin married Laur Holland.
George Crispin's marriage to Ellen Calanan (1812) was witnessed by Maria Crispin.
It is likely that these Crispins are related, but I have been unable to find out who George's parents were. Estimating from the census George was born around 1778 and Ellen around 1784.
The search goes on!

On irishgenealogy.ie I found marriages in Clonakilty:
George CRISTY (sic) married Ellena CALANAN (1812) - witnessed by Charles Calanan & Maria Cristy.
Eliza CRISPIN married Thadaus CALLANAN (1817) - witnessed by George Crispin & Joanne Walsh
The register gives the surname as CRISPY, but I am satisfied that this should be CRISPIN.
Surely Ellen and Thadaeus must be related.
The 1841 census has George age 63 and Ellen age 51 in Southwark
The 1851 census has Ellen age 65 in Southwark
Ellen dies in 1855 age 60 in Southwark
On irishgenealogy.ie there are a couple of potential baptisms for Ellen in Cork South Parish 1793 and Cork SS Peter & Paul 1797.
I am still looking for a baptism for George CRISPIN (c1778?).
I am looking for a baptism for Thadeus CALLANAN (prob 1790s).
Any help will be gratefully received.

Time to revisit this thread.
I was given a DNA test (MyHeritage) for Christmas, and have got the results. No Irish/Celtic, which surprised me. Just a mix of English, Western European and Scandinavian.
Family legend (oh no, not that!) states that an ancestor ran to Ireland after picking the wrong side to support (Civil War or James II?), - this could be a Crispin but I had always thought Calanan was a traditional Irish surname.
There are Catholic Crispins and Calanans (with some odd spellings) in Clonakilty in the early 1800s but I just can't trace the parents of George Crispin and Ellen Calanan who were married in 1812. Can anyone offer advice?
