Title: Victorian street index London
Post by: pincard on Wednesday 05 July 06 14:00 BST (UK)
I have always used a very good site that gave the names of all the streets in London in Victorian times. Also they had a medical terms index in Victorian times. Both these sites were so useful and now I can't get them anymore. Does anyone know of an alternative site please. Pincard

Just found this site which looks as if it's in the process of being built  ???

http://www.gendocs.com

They might be in the process of moving - nothing very much worthwhile up yet though - the errors when clicking the links look as if they've not been uploaded on to the new server.

Booths Poverty Maps is good as it gives the old and new map side by side, you need to know where the roads are for this tho'.

Don't foget Motco http://www.motco.com/Map/81006/
1862 streets with maps.

And you can always ask here or on the London site.  Some of us have A-z of Victorian London which is 1888. Although not all small streets are listed most are.

No doubt posted on the Useful Links board, but this site is very useful:

http://victorianlondon.org

There is also a similar site for Georgian London :
