Title: Maidstone Parish Records-MEDHURST
Post by: arabrab on Wednesday 19 July 06 23:30 BST (UK)
I am looking for the births of the family   of William Medhurst   born in Maidstone c 1826
In 1841 he seems to be living with mother Ann Medhurst (born E. Sutton c 1796 according to 1851 census)
& brothers George born c 1828,John born c 1830, and Richard born c 1833+ cousin Harriet Bassage born c 1838
There is also a Thomas Medhurst living next door born about 1819
Could some kind soul look up the Maidstone register  and see if any of these baptisms
are there?

As I unexpectedly found myself in Maidstone the other day, I did my own lookup.
William Medhurst was baptized in 1826 at All Sants Maidstone Other children included Sarah John George and Richard all baptized at All Saints.  Parents were Thomas  and Ann Medhurst  Hoyman/waterman.
Now all I have to do is find the marriage of Thomas and Ann. Doesn't appear to be at Maidstone so will try East Sutton next time I'm in Kent

Hi

If you are still looking for this marriage, it might be helpful to know that Mr David Hills has now added marriages from the following parishes in the Hollingbourne registration district 1754-1911 to his index.

Boughton Malherbe , Boxley , Broomfield , Chart Sutton , Detling , East Sutton , Frinsted , Harrietsham , Headcorn , Hollingbourne , Hucking , Langley , Leeds , Lenham , Stockbury , Sutton Valence , Thurnham and Ulcombe.

He can be contacted via the Kent Lookup Exchange http://members.tripod.com/~jo42/knt.html (look for his other lookup offers to find an email link)

Good luck

Hi
Thanks Casalguidi for your help. I contacted David Hill as you suggested and he has found my Medhurst marriage in Boxley in 1818 . What a star!

Best Wishes Barbara

Hi Claire

My OH is related to William and Louisa. They are his gg grandparents. His mother was brought up by Minnie, William and Louisa's youngest daughter.

How are you connected? What information are you looking for? I'm still looking for Louisa's baptism. I have been looking for years and have been through the Maidstone Parish register more times than I care to remember.

best wishes Barbara

Hello Barbara

I know Louisa is a little bit a mystery, I think I,ve found her father, John Tilby in 1841 with an Ellen and Sarah Tilby then 1851 with son John Tilby but still not enough clues to get me any further. I am related through thier son David and then his son David.

I would like to confirm if Thomas Medhurst was married to Ann Bassage and were his parents John and Penelope Medhurst, I found this information on a family tree so not sure how accurate it is. Is there anythng I can help you with at all?

Regards
Claire

Hello Claire
I just noticed you have just joined Rootschat. So welcome. It is a really helpful and friendly forum.

If you make one more posting on Rootschat , I can send you a personal ( private) message. Though it might not be until the end of the week as I am going away for a few days.

The Ann Bassage marriage is correct but I don't think  John and Penelope Medhurst sound right. I need to check my millions of bits of paper!

I will also look out a photo, I would like your opinion on.   Best wishes Barbara

Hi Barbara

I don't know if there is a way I can send you a private message? I am new to this forum. I wanted to get in touch because reading this thread I believe I have a connection to your partner's family via Edith Whichello and Edwin Fox.
