Title: King and Taylor Families Costock, Notts
Post by: GillSmith on Monday 31 July 06 13:35 BST (UK)
I'm reseaching two linked families in Costock.

I've managed to go back to the mid 1700's with the King family some of whom were Master Carpenters in Costock. Kings Cottage is still inhabited in  the village.

Ann King married John or Thomas Taylor in the early 1800's and I would like to make contact with anyone who is researching the families or has any knowlege of them.

By the early 1900's they seem to disappear after many generations of living in the area. I visited Costock recently and no-one had any memory of them.  Along with Kings Cottage there was also Taylors Yard.

Any info very much appreciated

Hi, My family name is King and I came across this by chance. My first record for Costock is for Thomas King Born about 1860 and died in Costock in 1737 he married Mary Leeson in 1706 at St Peters in the Rushes Rempstone which is long gone. In regards to Ann King I have only found 2 , 1708-1713 and Ann King born 1786 (father William King) but she married John Norman. Maybe there is another Ann somewhere from the other male King's from Costock so if you could give me her parents name I could try and find out from the records I have but have not yet looked up as I have only yet followed a direct line to me. My side moved to Loughborough about 1813. I hope this helps if you need more information please feel free to contact me if possible with an email address.
Kind Regards,
Steve King.
