Title: Marriage, Jessie McDonald - Edward Morgan, Knighton.
Post by: cogger on Wednesday 02 August 06 18:07 BST (UK)
Hi,

I don't suppose anybody has access to the Parish records for Knighton?

I'm trying to trace the parents of Jessie McDonald, born in Scotland in 1853.  She married Edward Morgan on 1st Dec 1883 in Knighton, and I'm assuming that the record would list parents names?

Jessie flitted between Scotland and England during her life and is proving to be a difficult ancestor to track down!

Can anyone help?

Thanks

the full GRO ref is:

Knighton, Dec Q, q, 1883, Vol 11b, page 279

This can be ordered online at

http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/

This will give her father's name and occupation.

Hi.
I don't know whether your Edward Morgan might be connected to mine.

My gggf Thomas Morgan, was bapt 1814 Great House, Knighton, son of Edward Morgan & Elizabeth Rogers.
Siblings Mary 1816, Elizabeth 1818, Edwyn 1827; probably others.
These 4 bapts are in the IGI, as is a marriage of Edward Morgan to Eliz Rogers in 1791, in Shropshire I think.

In reply to you question to someone else whether they were related to Edward Morgan who married Elizabeth Rogers, and l think farmer Great House, Knighton.
I have been trying to enlarge on this family with limited success and was hoping you would be able to help me.
My grandmother was Sarah Rogers (1876-1962) the daughter of John Rogers and Margaret Jenkins. They farm Rhewey, Llanfihangle nant Melan. Elizabeth would be an auntie to my grt grandmother.
Thanking you in advance.

Her birth certificate should give her mother's name as well as her fathers.

Hello,
Further to your enquiery about Edawrd Morgan and Elizabeth Rogers.
This Elizabeth Rogers would be an auntie to my grandmother, Sarah Rogers (1876-1962) the daughter of John Rogers and Margaret Jenkins and farmed The Rhewey, Llanfihangle nant Melan, Elizabeth's parents would be John Rogers and Ann Price, and also farmed The Rhewey.
I beleive Edward Morgan farmed Great House, Knighton and would to know more about this twig off my Rogers branch.
Any help would appreciated.
