Hello,

I am looking for marriage information on Sarah Syred.  Her son Herbert Syred was christened on 11 May 1818.  I wonder if Sarah eventually married.  Herbert Syred was christened in Brandeston.

I am interested in any available information on Sarah and her son Herbert.

hi Jann

had a look through Brandeston marriages 1813-1837, couldn't see any reference to Sarah

there was William Howchin and Anna Syred married 25 Nov 1832

Hi Jann

Had a look at Suffolk Marriage Index 1813-1837 for the Brandeston (and surrounding) area and the only Sarah Syred married in that time frame married a Henry Harvey in Tunstall on 17.7.1816, too early to be your Sarah?

Hi Anne,

This doesn't seem to fit  but I will keep the information.  One never knows! 

Herbert is a complete mystery - I've never found a document that I could pin on him - no marriage, death or census record.  the only documents on which his name appears are his daughter's christening record and marriage license.

Nothing on Sarah - but there is a Herbert SYRED aged 26, unmarried, born in Ramsholt Dock in Saxmundham in 1851, a grocer & draper's assistant, then in 1861 in Upper Street, Tunstall, it's Herbert J SYRED aged 37 again born Ramsholt Dock, Suffolk, Draper & Grocer, married now, with Frances E SYRED, his wife aged 37 born in Hadleigh and Jane A LEGGETT aged 14, doestic servant, born in Tunstall.

I know the ages don't exactly tally, but..... you never know!

  The age doesn't match - unless for instance he was my Herbert's child by a previous marriage.
