What sort of year are you looking at?

I can see a Princess Royal Terrace, wonder if this is a new road named after the old hotel???

Good luck

Thanks for your time - it's much better when people give full info, isn't it???  :-[

I came across it while transcribing Scarborough 1861 and it wasn't in the middle of a street, just something Mount. I'd heard of Oliver's Mount and it does look a possibility - but does it make sense?

If anyone wants to take a look the ref is piece 13, folio 86 page 3.

Also it is mentioned in 1865

Malton Messenger 7 January:

On the 4th inst., at Mr Jackson's the Princess Royal Hotel, Scarbro', Miss Jane HALL, of the Fleece Hotel, Thirsk, aged 33 years.

Sorry but can't find that ref in 1861, is it 1851? (Bet you wished you hadn't asked now) ;)

Thanks, just had a look, definitely Olivers Mount, although transcribed on 1837.com as Bincess Royed Hotal, Rivers Mount.    ::)

Sorry just seen this one.  Barbara is right - its Olivers Mount.

Olivers Mount is still here in Scarborough - they regularly hold motorcycle races round the Mount - but I've no knowledge of a hotel in that immediate area.

As Jane says there is a Princess Royal Terrace which isn't too far away from Olivers Mount (but certainly wouldn't be described as that address) - and there are a number of hotels in that area.  ???

Best wishes

The hotel was renamed The Bradley Court hotel in the 1980s and has since been turned into student accommodation.
