Hi Ricky

Thank you so much, we think this is the families we have been looking for. We are hoping Charles is the father of Edward and Samuel.  We are going to go to the 1881 census to see if we can link the 3 families.
We had been given Edwards name, but have not been able to find records for his birth on the BMD, his wife Elizabeth Ann, we have found her burial in Church records, but not the husband unfortunately.  Thank you so much for your help, it was very kind of you.

Best wishes

Were you wondering what a lighthouse was doing on the Somerset Levels, miles from the sea?

hi junket
Looking for ancestors nothing surprises me about addresses that are given, you should see some of the posts, but I will ask about the lighthouse, it might come in useful one day.

P.S I couldn't see Edward in Meare on the 1881 census sheets

Hi Ricky

Godney Lighthouse, is a cottage, beside a river, on the Somerset Levels, a light was put in the window at night to guide travellers to the only  ford on the  river, also the cottage was once a meeting house, hence the name Prayway'.

we have been back to the 1881 census and cannot find Edward Andrews anyehere in the country.  He was possibly Walter Edward Andrews, but cannot find this name either. Any suggestions ?  We found a marriage for Walter Edward and an Ann Clark, in 1880.

Samuel was Charles's son but Edward is still a mystery, and the one we are interested in.

Oh well back to the searching, thanks for you help, we know more tonight than we did when we woke this morning.

Hi Ricky

Thanks for the Bodman/Bodmin info.  have found a website with parish records for Wedmore and found the family, as Bodmar. Bodman, and Badman, but all the names and dates match up, so have a conection.  Also founsd susanah's husband William's burial record.  Have found their marriage record, she was a Sweet.

Thank doesn't seem enough, but we do thank you very much, if you ever come this way we will buy you a drink !!

Hi

I am trying to research my family history (very off and on)! The Walter Edward Andrews referred to in this thread is my maternal great-great-grandfather. Do you have any more info about this family? I would PM you but haven't been on here long enough to do that yet!
