Looking for background information on Richard Cottle.
DOB: Abt 1811 Bath Somerset. Convicted (Somerset Assizes March 1829) and Transported the same year to Australia (Claudine arriving Sydney Dec 1829). Serving a 14 year sentance. Richards Certificate of Freedom show FROME as Native Place, however his Death Certificate notes Bath. Any help on his Family before his Trip to Australia would be appreciated. Regards Vic Cottle.

I don't know if this will help or not,
There was a WILLAM COTTLE widower maried Jane HEDLEY at Combe Hay on the 5th May 1816.
Unfortunately I haven't his first marriage, but widowers tended to remarry not long after a wife's death if there were children involved.
Combe Hay is only about 2 or 3 miles from Bath.
It might pay you to have a look at the Combe Hay records through your LDS centre.
I seem to recall there were quite a few COTTLE entries on the Combe Hay Fiche Files.
