Hi all
I have an ancestor, Frances Wilkin born Walsingham 1807 and married William Twiddy in East Barsham in December 1829, but have then come to a bit of a halt there with that line, just wondered if there were any Wilkin's left in Walsingham at the 1841 census?
Many Thanks
Anthony

Anthony,
Did not see any Wilkins in the 1841 Census in Norfolk. Possibly if you have Frances Wilkins parents names, would have better luck.
Do you have William and Frances Twiddy family from the 1841 Census.
Can give you that info if you don't have.

Hi Anthony,
Are Walsingham and Little Walsingham the same?
If so, I can see:

Robert Wilkin, 29, Ag lab
Mary, 25
All born in county
Tanja :)
In 1851, I can see another couple: John age 50 & family (born & living Little Walsingham)

Thanks Sam and Tanja
Yes Little Walsingham would be Walsingham, gives me a few more names just got to work out how they are related to Frances, logic would suggest that maybe Charles is a brother and Sarah might be their mother, only a thought though.
Confined in the cage sounds interesting!!
Thanks again

Knight Street
Confined in the Cage
is at the top of the page and the Wilkin address is dittoed from above. With a little luck, it didn't really apply to them :P
PS I see there's a member submitted record on the IGI for Frances: parents John Wilkin and Sarah Rix - siblings William 1802, Robert 1811, Charles 1795, Ann 1804

Tanja
Guess that just about ties the Sarah in the 1841 as her mother then and the Charles and Robert, also gives me some addresses to look for next time I'm there, which is a bit of a shame as I was there the week before last and wish I'd known it then, oh well theres always next time.
Thanks again

That is terrific information, very interesting and helps to fill in a few more gaps, thanks very much. Later censuses had William as born in Snoring, although all the villages are close there so perhaps its an easy error to make.

Wow even more information thanks very much and also Ann's mothers maiden name (Atter - not very common I suspect).
Wonder why on Williams birth record Ann's maiden name was given as Burgess rather than Harvey. Is it possible Ann Twiddy (Harvey) died and Phillip then married another Ann (Burgess) or was Ann married before and her husband died?

Hi Anthony,
Had a look on the Norfolk transcriptions Archive site, and found this-
Marriages (Parish Register)
Fakenham 1805 Philip Twiddy to Ann Burgess
groom widr of hempton, bride of Billingford.
so Ann Twiddy (Harvey) must have died some time between 1802 and 1805
also in the Baptisms (parish Register)
Gt Walsingham 1780 Twiddy Philip, Parents William and Catharine.
which would make him 28 when he died.

Thanks for that, so now I have to look for a Burgess family in Billingford as well, shame the first wifes burial wasnt in the parish records. Also I did not know Philips parents before so that gets another generation back as well,
Thanks again that really has been a great help.

Hi Tanja
That at least explains why he is missing from the 1841 census I guess he was in Wakefield or somewhere between Wakefield and Walsingham.
Thanks for that
Anthony
