Title: 1901 Leftovers: 1901 Census - Scotland?
Post by: Janice M on Friday 07 October 05 03:22 BST (UK)
I just wanted to ask if this site includes the 1901 Census from Scotland.

I have a few and would be more than willing to transcribe the information.

Interesting question I wondered the same.

I thought they wouldn't be accepted as they don't have folio piece numbers etc?

Has anyone found the answer to this yet?

I  too have several pages of the Scottish 1901 census which I could transcribe.

Hi Susan,

Many thanks for the offer.

there was a query a while back, whether we would include scottish 1901 data and data from other census years.

I said I would look into it, but I haven't got very far with it.
Scottish data has a different cataloguing system from England/Wales (no Piece, folio, page) which makes it difficult.

I'll get back to you on this, when I'm further with my deliberations.

thanks,
Bob

Has there been any progression with this as I will shortly be acquiring Scottish census data and wouldn't mind transcribing it either.

Hi All,

too little time, too many other commitments, so nothing has happened, and nothing is likely to happen.

I'll post again, should the situation change.

Maybe you could make it clear on the 1901 census leftovers webpage that it only covers England, as I just wasted a bit of time on there looking for scottish entries. then i came and found this of course  ::)

Yes, sorry about that, just so used to seeing it and knowing what it means, that I didn't realise it could be misinterpreted.
I've now changed the introductory paragraph.

The RootsChat "1901 Leftovers" Site
is a collection of transcripts from the 1901 U.K. Census.*
Once you have downloaded a page from the 1901 U.K. census *, and transcribed your family, you are invariably left with other families on the page, which may very well be of use to someone else. So the various transcribers have donated their "leftovers" to this site, to help you search for your relatives.

Click on the Search buttons at the top of the page to search for a Person
or, if you know the reference, to search for a particular Piece/Folio/Page.

* The 1901 U.K. census covers only England and Wales. It does not include Scotland or Ireland.
