Title: The Tippin Family of Meaford, Ontario

Hi,

I am looking for information on my 2nd Great-Grandfather, William Henry Tippin (or just Henry) who emigrated to Meaford, in Ontario, Canada from Birmingham, Warwickshire.

I know he had four sons (Leslie Frank William Henry Tippin (1896), Enoch Howard Tippin (1901), Sidney George Tippin (1903), and Wilfred Tatham Tippin (Unknown birth date - First born in Canada)) and one daughter (Gertrude Madeline Ruby Tippin (1898))

Any information on this family would be greatfuly recieved,

I wonder if you have the 1901 census for them in England ?

Hi Tippin,

Have you seen them in the 1911 Canadian Census?  They are in Meaford - start here http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/1911/006003-100.01-e.html , click on "Detailed Search", type in District number 73 and Sub-District 38.  When the search results come up, click "Associated images" and choose page 11.  Click on "online Help" from the main page for help with column headings and other info. 

It says they emigrated to Canada in 1907.  There is no sign of Wilfred.  Was he born after 1911?  Ontario birth records are only public up to 1908 (a new year is released each year), so we can't look for his birth record yet. 

I also can't find any marriage records for the children (only public to 1922), or any Tippin deaths in Grey Co. (where Meaford is) up to 1932.  Did they stay in Meaford??

Leslie Frank's attestation papers for WW 1 . He was still in Meaford 1916

There are still three listed Tippins in Meaford...
Perhaps lliving relatives...Many have made contact with a simple note..

If you go onto "Our Roots" site, you will find books about the Tippin's and the area they lived in. You can read these books online.
