Hi U3,

I'd be very happy to try and help ...

Does the time frame 1800-1860s mean he was born in 1800 and dies in the 60s (can't see a match at first sight), or would he have been born anytime between 1800 and 1860? Is there anything else you know about him? Wife's name, children's details?

Tanja  :)

Hi U3,

This is the 1851 entry:
HO107/2503 460 9
Wrexham Regis, Denbighshire
Wrexham Fechan

Robert Turner, head, 48, Spanish Leather Dresser, b. Middlesex London
Mary, wife, 49, b. Denbighshire Denbigh
Catherine, dau, 16, b. Wrexham
Walter, son, 12, scholar, b. do.
Sarah, dau, 9, scholar, b. do.
Rachel, dau, 5, scholar, b. do.
David Baker, nephew, 6, scholar, b. Denbigh Slan**

Try as I might, I can't seem to see them in 1841.

Interestingly, father Robert seems to be called Henry R in 1881 when he's in Lancashire

Edit: I think the above 1881 isn't right - sorry.
This one looks better, doesn't he?

In my tree I have a few Turnors, who were surveyors and land agents for Lord Bagot on his estates in Denbighshire. A couple of whom are also named Walter.

From Pigots directory of the Midlands, 1835
Ruthin
Nobility, Gentry & Clergy
Turnor, Walter, esq. Pool Park
Turnor, Thomas, esq. Pool Park

Worth checking out. If we are talking about the same Walter, I have his ancestors going back to the 1600s, and family to the present day.

Hi again U3,

Thanks for PMs - this is getting a little complicated so I think it's easier if we keep it all on the thread.

Could you just tell us what you already have and what you are looking for?
Do you have Robert's Walter's marriage cert?

Here is the family in 1871:
RG10/3826 46 28
Kirkdale, Lancashire
11 Selwyn Street

Walter Turner, head, 30, Passenger Broker's Clerk, b. Denbighshire Wrexham
Ellen, wife, 29, b. Flintshire **lock
Evelyn M, dau, 5, scholar, b. United States
Arthur C?, son, 3, scholar, b. do.
Robert E, son, 2, b. Cheshire Rock Ferry
Emma E Hampson, sister in law, unm, 19, b. Denbighshire Wrexham

You were asking for the marriage Robert Turner to Mary. A birth cert for one of the children born after 1837 would confirm it, but I think this one, found on the IGI at www.familysearch.org looks like a possible, given that Mary was from Denbigh:
ROBERT TURNER
Spouse MARY WILLIAMS
Marriage 09 MAR 1826   Denbigh, Denbighshire

Edit: This looks like the marriage Walter/Helena:
June quarter 1864
Wrexham 11b 580
Helena Hampson - Walter Turner

I can't see the family after 1871... Did they move away?

I think I can trace Emma Elizabeth Hampson back to 1851. However, Ellen/Helena doesn't seem to be at home with her parents on any census  :-\

Hi

Not sure if this helps -

I've checked the N Wales BMD for the birth Registration of Walter.

http://www.northwalesbmd.org.uk/births.html

And have found the following LOCAL reference:

1839  Turner, Walter, Wrexham County Borough Ref - WM-001- 76

To obtain the cert for this ref, you would have to contact the local Reg Office in Wrexham (info given in the link). Alternatively, a search on FreeBMD/Ancestry would probably get you the GRO Ref.

Re 1841 Census info - if they were in Wrexham, the records would not show up. The Wrexham area EDs are missing.

Someone on RC does have access to some of them though.

It's not on FreeBMD.

GRO Birth REf is:

Wrexham, 1839, June Q, vol 17, page 293.
