I think this should be posted on a board for idiots actually.
For the nth time I have just closed two windows at once, thereby deleting a reply including carefully transcribed census info!!!!! I am not a happy bunny.
Is there any chance that when closing a "reply" window without posting there could be a "Do you actually mean to do this?" prompt? Or would that be just one more headache for the overworked admin team ;D
PS Thanks for the spell checker!

Yes - I need the spell chaecker!
I'm sorry to read that you've lost your work. There is nothing more frustrating!
I'd love to put something in to double check that you want to close a window if you are replying to something, but I can't see technically how it can be done - it could almost be done with a pop-up, but not quite I don't think - the browser doesn't know that the thing that you have typed in is important, it just treats it like closing a window of anyweb page unfortunately - I'll keep my eyes on the lookout for a solution though - but I wouldn't hold much hope!

PS I think I lost it a long time ago ;D

If I have a longish reply I tend to type it into notepad or the like and then copy paste into roots chat - saves much grief when IE6 does its thing & tells me its gone illegal and must close - or when my "always on" internet line goes "off".
I did learn this the "hard way".

Ah well Trish, as my Mum was wont to tell me "You never learn!" ;D
OK Trystan, no reason to pass my personal problems on to you ;)
