Title: TOMPKINS/PEAKE Family - Dudleston
Post by: wrjones on Tuesday 24 October 06 22:44 BST (UK)
Does anyone have any Tomkins relatives who lived at Dudleston Heath Shropshire?I have just added to my Tree a Thomas Tomkins born in 1735 in Dudleston who married one of my Peake relatives,an Ann Peake at Chirk Denbighshire in 1759.According to the extracted records for Dudleston the couple had at least nine children;
Richard Baptised 1763,
Elizabeth Baptised 1764,
Elen Baptised 1769,
Mary Baptised 1772,
Thomas Baptised 1773,
Jane Baptised 1775,
Henry Baptised 1776.
Ann Baptised 1779
Eleanor Baptised 1781,
There was also a James given as Baptised to the same couple in 1786,but as Ann the Mother was born in 1740,if that was also his Birthyear I would think it doubtful.

A search of the Rootchat Surname Interest Table (SIT) shows that there are currently 11 members researching the name TOMKINS http://surname.rootschat.com/sit-surnames.php?letter=T&this_name=TOMKINS

Although, none are researching a Shropshire line it might be worth contacting them just in case..............you never know ;)

It might be a good idea to add yourself to the list too ;) ;)

Many thanks for your reply Lloydy, yes I have looked for the Surname in the Surname Interests Table.Of course as far as adding perhaps my Tomkins Surname to the Interests,I perhaps wrongly have decided only to include only "Bloodlines" amongst my Surnames Interests, which has reminded me to add Peake to my list!

Hi William,

No Tompkins or Peake in my lot yet.

Just to say that don't rule out James just yet.
My GGrandfather was born in 1872 and his mother was born 1826. So its not unheard of.

Hello William
I have Thomas Tomkins in my family tree - only recently added - connected via his brother's marriage in 1763 - Richard Tomkins (1738 - 1767).
Currently I am trying to work out if there is a wider connection between Tomkins of Dudleston and my Parry / Davies / Jones families of Dudleston / Ellesmere / Eastwick / Dudleston Heath (Criftins).

Many thanks Lindsay for your reply. In all this it is the Peake family that is the bloodline for me.
